Here at Land Market we deal with sites of all shapes and sizes and we pride ourselves in seeing the real potential in any plot of land. In this Land Market case study there are two examples of brownfield sites we acquired which were run-down but ripe for developing…
Case Study: Charles Street, Bristol
The Background
The disused warehouse Land Market sourced at Charles Street, central Bristol, was a prime example of an inner-city commercial property with great potential for development. Being aware of its prospects we introduced the site to local developer Woodstock Homes.
Our Actions
Planning was sought and obtained by Woodstock Homes for a 24 unit scheme of one and two bedroom apartments. Catapulting the old city street into the 21st century the finished complex has rejuvenated Charles Street and has been a huge success for Woodstock Homes.
Case Study: Little Withey Mead, Westbury on Trym
The Background
This case study is wonderful illustration of how a run-down piece of land can be completely transformed through development. Despite being a derelict site of garages the location of Little Withey was excellent, being within easy reach of a renowned local school and close to near by shops and restaurants. When Land Market agreed to purchase this site of garages from Bristol City Council we consulted with planners and neighbours alike before work began.
Our Actions
What evolved was a very contemporary scheme featuring two four-bedroom homes. The homes were designed to an incredibly high spec. Numerous vellum windows were installed to maximise the light coming into the first floor and the ceilings were vaulted internally to create a stunning sense of space. Other elements included bespoke lighting schemes and modern stylish kitchens with built in wine coolers. The exterior of the homes were a mixture of brick render and cedar wood panels, creating a contemporary and visually appealing finish. The homes are a real statement and have greatly increased in value over a short period of time.
